Help for Individuals
What Is Spiritual Care?
We are all on a journey that, at times, feels very lonely. We often yearn to know that we are not alone. Spiritual Care offers a companion who can help us be in touch with the holy presence in our lives. It draws upon the ancient practice of Spiritual Direction and provides a caring presence through active listening and the spiritual disciplines to foster an awareness of the holy presence in our lives.
What Does Spiritual Care Provide?
Active Listening – offers the opportunity for people to talk their way through whatever seems to me weighing upon their heart or mind by helping them see themselves in their own heart, mind, and soul.
Prayer – provides opportunities for prayerful reflection and the opportunity to experience the holy presence in their lives.
Life Review – provides an opportunity for people to look back and experience their life in ways that help them heal and move forward with a sense of authenticity.
Presence – our prayerful, caring presence reminds people that they are valued and precious creations.
Grief Support – companionship to people as they experience the very real grief of living and loving. We honor people’s need to grieve in their own unique way and offer a loving and caring presence when they feel lost or confused.
Referral – access to other caring mental and physical health professionals who understand your spiritual journey and are able to assist you with your needs.
Spiritual Care Responds to the Needs of Individual
Spiritual Health Associates offers spiritual care based on the needs and abilities of the individual seeking help. The sessions may last for 30 to 50 minutes depending on the time required to help the individual get in touch with the holy presence in their life. These sessions may be held in:
· Visits in the home of the individual, or
· In Long Term Care Facilities.
All Spiritual Care services are provided by well-trained spiritual directors who are screened and selected by Spiritual Health Associates for their skill, level of care, and commitment to helping you discover spiritual health. If the person needs assistance from another type of care-giver, the Spiritual Director will work with them to find the right person.
Each person’s journey is unique. We all bring a variety of experiences, temperaments, beliefs, and resources to our daily experience. We all walk through times of darkness and light. Spiritual Care responds to all of this with a caring heart and an attentive ear. We walk with individuals as they go through loss, large and small life changes, fears, celebrations, disappointments, and all the other pieces of a life well-lived. Spiritual Care offers a companion to share in this journey.
I am now seeing directees by appointment only on Tuesdays between 9 AM ands 2 PM at 4848 Preston Rd. Pasadena, Texas. If you are interested in scheduling an appoint email. There is no charge for the first session as we explore together whether spiritual direction is for you.
